Some teachers are not certified, or even have degrees from accredited colleges. There is no nurse or counselors. Only the pastors kids running everything.

I can’t be happier with my child’s experience at this school. He loves going to school. The after school activities offered here are diverse and engaging. The teachers are dedicated and are great with the kids. I highly recommend Lincoln for its excellent education, after school programs and the exceptional teachers.

I purposely waited until the end of the school year to write this review since we have a new principal. Thankfully, she has really made a difference at Holmes this year. She is able to connect with the students, encourage them, and make them feel welcome and safe. In a short time, she has built a great rapport with faculty, resulting in better student/teacher relationships. She has also been to every PTO meeting, proving she is truly invested in our children and Holmes' future. My child is thriving and I trust the new leadership.

Reed is an exceptional school. The teachers here are not just educators; they are passionate mentors who genuinely care about each student's personal and academic growth. The school itself boasts well-kept facilities that create a welcoming and safe environment for all students. From the colorful classrooms to the expansive playground, every corner of this school is designed to foster learning and fun. The sense of community here is truly remarkable. Parents and local community members are deeply involved, frequently participating in school events and making contributions that enrich the students' learning experiences. This collaborative atmosphere not only enhances the educational environment but also creates a supportive network for students and families alike. This isn't just a school, it's a community that nurtures future leaders, thinkers, and dreamers.

This school was horrible for me. I didn't have a textbook for most of my classes while I attended this school from 2009-2013. I learn primarily from textbooks because I couldn't pay attention during "lecture" classes. They failed to provide students with the most basic things that they need to learn. But, we had laptops that distracted us in class. Instead of paying attention in class, I was watching YouTube videos, playing games on my laptop, etc. I had undiagnosed ADD back then, which I'm surprised that none of my teachers noticed. Since normal good teachers usually watch out for that kind of stuff. My grades were extremely poor, and now I'm going to be 30 and still living at home with my parents because of my bad grades. Way to go Vermilion High School! You sure did prepare me to be successful in life! Not!

I've had two children go through here and it's really been a good school. Both kids had similar teachers, and all were nice and willing to help our kids when they needed one on one. Bullying was a little bad at recess, but it was usually handled after the fact.

Had high hopes for this campus, however shortly after attending here it became very obvious they are lacking proper leadership. No one patrols the parking lot correcting people and telling them not to block the main entrance, don't park on the firecurb and don't park in handicap spots without a placard. The lack of properly addressing these issues led go other parents starting to do the same thing, ultimately decreasing parking safety during school pick up and drop off. The rules they do have, hardly anyone seems to follow because they're not actually enforced. For example they implemented a security feature where all parents must check in if entering the campus. A few parents with integrity did the right thing, however almost no one else did and chose to ignore the rules. The main problem is no Staff members were enforcing this pick up rule, once again a lack of enforcement which led to not being accountable for multiple people who entered and exited the campus. Why invest into and implement a security feature if you're not going to do any follow up or enforcement on the back end? Until they start enforcing their own rules, this school leaves a lot to be desired.

This school has the pitfall many modern-day pic schools do of investing more time and money into sports than fine arts. Communication from administration often lacks. The dress code is ridiculously strict. Some of the rules in general are odd—no backpacks? Really? Certain teachers also create a facade completely different from regular class time when someone is scheduled and comes in and inspects the class.

We have 2 kids at this school in elementary level and love it. We get a lot of communication from teachers (including the specialists like the music and Spanish teachers). The administrators here are also very engaged with parents and the community. Most importantly, the teachers are happy and very good with students. My kids are substantively challenged and are encouraged to be leaders and ask questions.

All through my childen's school years, they were pushed through whether they were ready or not. Having I.E.P.'s, they didn't even have to pass any testing or retain what they had learned, that is until 9th grade. First day of high school, they get thrown in with the students who have achieved academic profiency, and expect them to know what to do. They scoff when children. Ask for extra help or when they say they don't understand. They won't hold they other children up, wasting their the trying to get someone 3 grade levels behind caught up. Then they tell them "oh if you don't pass you have to keep retaking before you are able to graduate." And the kids get so overwhelmed and start beating themselves up. It has been a terrible terrible mistake to have let them attend this long. I've had to take all 3 out and begin to honeschool just to protect them. Not to mention the bullying and bias administration shows. Very unethical values.

This school has been disappointment after disappointment. The principal and AP run Viridian like a prison. If your child does not fit into the exact box they expect them to you will feel pressured to have them tested for special education. This school is lacking love and fun. Everything is too serious. Parents don’t feel welcome to come volunteer or help in decision making for the school. There are also major safety concerns with morning drop off and pick up that have not been handled with urgency. Unfortunately, it’s going to take a parent or child getting hurt for anything to be done.

a brunch of the teachers aren’t certified for teaching. they only care about athletics. the building is so small some of the teachers don’t even have class rooms. education is non existent. they don’t prepare students for the future. if you send your kids here you will regret it

I would not recommend to go to this school. First of all, the supervisors just aren't fair. My child is in the GATE program and many of the supervisors just seem to favor the other kids more and don't treat everybody with respect. I find this ironic because one of the school's motto is respectful. The supervisors are also always busy doing something else such as looking at their phone or eating. My kids have come home crying because of the way he was being treated. He has told me that they were discriminating against their race/culture. Secondly, the new principle, Melanie Carmona has also never really been engaging with students. The last reason why i do not recommend this school is because of how close it is the the railroad. It is so loud when the trains go by that it disturbs the learning process.

I have noticed a change in the school over the years that is very disappointing. It was very warm and nurturing the first year we were there. But we noticed a trend that if you have an issue, your child or you became the problem. If you point out an issue about the academics, you are told your kid has a learning disability. If you speak up about bullying, you are told your child is just sensitive or it nothing was seen. If you are a parent that speaks up, you won't be happy here. If you want a secure school with a beautiful campus, but don't care about the academics or bullying, then this is the school for you.
